It's awesome. I'd REALLY LOVE it if youtube was to release a linux binary that does text only video streaming straight over the terminal using ASCII art. That would be cool, for the days when I'm being ignorant and insist on using a command-line only ubuntu. I only used Youtube on the 1st to listen to a song, so when I put that mode on, I didn't really notice it much. Still, I liked the added little plead for saving money on it, and the bit that I quoted above just put the icing on the cake.

It's awesome. I'd REALLY LOVE it if youtube was to release a linux binary that does text only video streaming straight over the terminal using ASCII art. That would be cool, for the days when I'm being ignorant and insist on using a command-line only ubuntu. Hehehe might get working on a program like that with a mate just for a laugh, because there isn't a way (as far as i'm aware) of using youtube under linux.

ReplyDeleteI only used Youtube on the 1st to listen to a song, so when I put that mode on, I didn't really notice it much. Still, I liked the added little plead for saving money on it, and the bit that I quoted above just put the icing on the cake.
Come on, that mode was good. :P Keep it, even if only accessible via the address bar.
ReplyDeleteAlso, an option to download video without sound would be helpful to save (personal) bandwidth (so that videos spend less time buffering when the soundtrack is just some random guy's favourite song at the time, more often than not unappealing).
I don't mind if this is kept or not - besides, it's not like I'm going to use it. Besides, the "&textp=fool" gave the game away.
