Channel 4 Goes 3D, Seeks Content From YouTube Users

In November Channel 4 is set to run a week of programming dedicated to 3D film-making and is inviting YouTube users to produce their own 3D films to serve as trails to introduce the programmes.
The broadcaster is looking for videos shot around the theme of “4” of around 10-15 seconds – as per this effort, shot outside the station’s London headquarters.

Would 3d not work better by using 2 cameras shooting the same piece of film?
ReplyDeleteI mean if the first camera was positioned in such away as to record the background (hidden but closer to the background & moveable) and the second on the subject (closer up) would this not in effect achieve the illusion of 3d? and without having to wear the glasses.
I still think the true answer lays in multiple cameras (shooting upwards, downwards and sideways, as well as at the front) and tv's that project an outer screen (a bit like lasers in a night club ) which project a 4 wall dimension around you, at the moment you can jump out of your skin watching 3d and something appears to be coming at you, what if the other 4 angles were considered.
Proving this is way beyond any technology I could afford to mess around with, I only just manage to keep my version of windows 98 working with software :(
