I'm sorry - that is one of the most pathetic excuses I can think of..
"...creating and improving our state-of-the-art Content ID system and many other powerful tools for copyright owners. Now, all of the major U.S. movie studios, music labels and over 1,000 other global partners use Content ID to manage their content on YouTube. Because of the success of these ongoing technological efforts, we are able to increase the upload limit today" The Content ID system works regardless of video length.. just look at Blip.TV for example - they have always allowed HUGE video uploads and they are doing fine.. In reality the reason you have held off increasing the 'limit' on video uploads is as you wanted to separate the 'partners' from 'non-partners' .. *Ugh*
Next.. "Without question, the number one requested feature by our creators is to upload videos longer than 10 minutes. We’ve heard you....." From day *one* this has always been the case.. How is it that only now, more than four years after the site opened, you have finally 'heard' us... Come on - you have not heard us you have heard your manager.. like when you 'allowed' us to 'choose' between the old channels vs. the new ones and then forced us to use the 'new' channels regardless. Ditto for the 'new' video watch page.. how many hundreds of thousands of people complained about that, and how many were ignored?
It is becoming a total joke, this 'Have Your Say' nonsense. You (YouTube) clearly do not care about what we say.. it all falls on deaf ears.
@classicmacintosh The reason the 10-minute limit was introduced was to stop copyrighted videos from being uploaded, because they found the majority of >10-minute videos at the time were TV shows and stuff.
What they're getting at is that now they have Content ID and enough studios have adopted it that it should catch the videos so they can push the limit up.
This is quite historic, I mean I truly didn't see this happening!, a few years ago I'd have been happier with the news but since then I've been able to grasp fully the magic of editing and pace...I hope. But I bet many, many others will relish in the news!
thank you but daily motion still beating you can upload up to 20 min videos on there so if you make it up to 20 it be a lot better but another 5 mins is better than just 10 mins i just thort ill add that in :)
A resolution limit of 4k and a size limit of 2GB. Surely both of those are enough to limit it? If it's only going to ever be 2GB you aren't going to lose any more bandwidth, just seems stupid.
Is it just me or have Youtube also improved the speed of uploading. this month i have managed to upload videos much faster than before. is this for everyone or just me?
Oh, it allowed that one! Now here is a serious note. Great to see the time limit extended. However, it will not be of much use if we see the continual degrading of videos which have been on channel for two years and got many thousands of views. Bring back the 480p setting, and cease making our work look like they were shot through the bottom of a glass bottle

ReplyDeleteWow, 5 minutes extra. How generous of Youtube.
ReplyDeleteGive me a break will ya?
I see no reason to not allow longer video's.

ReplyDeleteSeriously, why is there even a timelimit?

thank you for being a little bit more generous, now when do we get our channels back? Many of us have had to suffer for nearly a year now.

ReplyDeleteThe trouble le with this so-called "blog" is that it allows spammers to place messages here, but not serious replies.
