Its good idea but the problem is that it could take a really long time before we get the accurate views.

I hope this issue does get fix plus the sub box issue needs to be fix as well as I have had messages saying it didnt arrive in their subscription box.

When you click on all subscribers, it only comes up with like 23.

Now Timmy accuses CheekTV of spamming and I'm essentially getting what I deserve. I don't even know how to use bots etc. If I did, would I have just 250 subs? No.
If I went into Maccy D's and said there's a rat in my burger, and they said "You did it." Surely that's libel? And would be a total outrage!

My views come from catching the Zeitgeist and video responses. Not from sitting there hitting refresh or paying someone to do it (or however else it's done). Explain this...if it's people gaming the system, how does sxephil etc get frozen for ages, with their overall view counts seemingly less too?

This issue is YouTube wide and I'm getting closer and closer to writing a press release "End Of Web 2.0" and listing ALL of YouTube's failings and sending it out to my friends in the media. If they weren't #1 and owned the biggest search engine online people would speak up. Partners have more to lose as they make money from Google Adsense etc.

Timmy to CheekTV: "The inflated view count number on these videos will be frozen until actual views catch up to the published, artificial, view count......No views on videos are being reversed or lost. All real video views will be recorded on videos. Thanks, Timmy"

Hi Michelle, it is great that you are addressing the problem of inflated view counts. One view per IP address would make it a fairer though I feel, although saying that I have some people's videos that I personally watch over and over and I would like them to register a view on my behalf so good luck on trying to please everybody! I would go a stage further though, those videos where people are artificially inflating their views, by an auto refresh tool or similar should be suspended, harsh but fair! :)

    Hi Michelle,

My second comment here; whilst I am very understanding when you are performing site maintenance, the video I uploaded on Sunday has stuck at 202 again, whilst I noticed that some of my earlier videos that were stuck are moving again. You must appreciate how frustrating it is to put effort in to a video and to not get rewarded with the views that the video is obviously getting as people are leaving comments. It does make me wonder what the point is in uploading new videos at the moment and that is lost revenue for us both.

On another point, there was hundreds of comments here, now only 36, what have you done with them all? Of course people would look and say "Only 36 comments, obviously people are not bothered!" but you know that is not the truth!

Best wishes and I really hope you can resolve this glitch soon, Anthony

Me again! Now my Tuesday night video has stuck on 204 whilst ... yes, you guessed it, my Sunday night video is still on 202, just like it was 23 hours ago! Maybe it is because my video is on autoplay, so when I go to my channel to read a comment it registers a view; or maybe it is because I go to my video to reply to comments and that registers a view too ... I am only guessing but there is a DEFENENT bug in this new system! All the best:)

    #42 - Top Favourited (Today) - Music
    #36 - Top Rated (Today) - Music

    #84 - Most Viewed (Today) - Musicians

I've just gone to My Videos and the count has gone up to 207, but no change elsewhere.
I have other artists/musicians involved with the video, they have been pushing it on myspace etc. It promotes a dvd and the view count is (was) an important way of measuring interest for a dvd release.
17 5star ratings, 10 comments and favourited 12 times, and the video has been featured on some top Hip Hop blogs and websites.
The view count just doesn't add up.
This seems to be happening to so many users without so much as a warning, I must assume it's a built in glitch that is being hopefully sorted.
The whole look of our video channels have changed overnight without any warning either.
Swanky new graphics and "looks" are no good if there's no-one there to see them!
This view freeze issue should be top priority.
    Thanks.

I have watched my own videos - I admit that. I do it often so that I can check the playback quality of the new videos in HD (as sometimes they are very jumpy), I also visit the video page to read my subscribers/viewers comments; post reply comments and check to see if the more information section is still relevant and up to date.

I promote my video by sharing them with my friends and subscribers and have started to promote them using annotations on some of my mcpcshowcase videos to attract attention to my new HD channel.

All of this activity I believe is within, or should be within acceptable tolerances and strongly believe that YouTube has blocked my view count thinking that I am behaving fraudulently. I want to stress at this point that I do not artificially inflate my view count on purpose but to carry out the above actions which you can only do (in my knowledge) by viewing the watch page. Having read hundreds of posts from angry users on your own community forums page and on various blogs on the net I am slowly coming to the conclusion that YouTube doesn't care about it's smaller subscribers and only those who attract revenue by posting ads on their videos etc which is completely unfair.

How can YouTube justify rolling out such an unfair policy. It's borderline slanderous.

I look forward to your response / YouTube's response (if you deem it worthwhile to respond).

This system is poorly thought out and denying people viewing figures that are truthful and deserved. For example, I uploaded a video over the weekend that today has hit the biggest political blog in the UK. However, the view counter is stuck at 202 and has been for 4 hours. I know that thousands of people are watching it but I cannot see that, or use Insight to do any analysis. There has been no spamming, though I have sent the video round my work colleagues so there may be a couple of dozen hits from the same IP but that is no reason to suspend the counter! The video is here, should you or your colleagues be willing to do anything to correct your error: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LHqpzjMTDY

YouTube is seriously letting down their users by enforcing this ludicrous policy. The whole point of YouTube is to allow your friends, family and anybody else who is interested to access your hard thought out videos. It is now clear that all three videos on my channel as well as my channel counter is frozen. I actively promoted by new mcpcshowcaseHD channel prior to its launch to ensure as many of my existing subscribers on my standard definition mcpcshowcase channel could see my new quality material. This obviously resulted in a lot of video views in a short space of time. Can you YouTube explain why exactly such a harsh policy is in place? The success of my channel is being seriously harmed which is totally unfair!

Our videos have been affected, too. Our count has been frozen for a long time now. It is interesting that the count stopped at just little over 200, like with many other users; that seems very strange to me... This is really unacceptable. We demand that this be corrected very soon. A question for other YouTube users: Please, is there some viable alternative to YouTube? I really do not want to put up with such a lousy service.

I think there is a little problem with the counts. When I search for my films on my computer several come up with no counts. When I click on them to view them they have between 20 and 65 counts each. Why is this???

Surely it should show the counts on the search as everyone elses seems to?

Hi, where do you go to appeal a decision by youtube to remove a video - which is now all over the news, featured in every major newspaper (which is where the video was retrieved) as well as on !! youtube !!

Where my video was rejected - others were not !!

The owner of the video - gave permission for public dispersal - so there is no reason why it should not be shown.

The contact is a maze !!

    Hi Michelle,

Perhaps the problem is with network autonomy. Why does view count dominate youtube? Any view should be valid. There is no fair or unfair, and it should be admitted that this is under influence of paying members, who apparently have something to lose from independent videos with "privateered" views, no problems of course with the purchased and automatic views that come for Youtube sponsors.

I'm afraid that views never count.

    Regards, BG

We got a invitation from an organisation in a comment on one of our videos.
This organisation claims to be able to sell to YouTube channels, quantity numbers of YouTube ratings, channel views, video views, and comments, for a fee.
The fees for this service range from a couple of dollars to hundreds of dollars - basically buying video views.

We see that we are not the only channel to have got an "invitation" to bump up our video views and channel viewers for a fee.

What is YouTube's policy on the service these companies are hawking?

This practice looks distinctly dodgy from where we are sitting.

I think the view counts being so low might be to do with not being able to watch the videos as well as other problems. Quite a lot, I go to watch a video and it will say that I cannot watch the video because I'm in the wrong country. I think if this was sorted out so that people from anywhere can watch a video, there will be a lot more views.

Please, YouTube, look into this. There seems to be a glitch of some kind there. If the view count had been frozen, please, remove this freeze. I am sure that if you examine this account, you will find out there was no spamming so there is no reason to freeze the view count. I thank you on my own and my friend’s behalf.

I've got a video that's been stuck at 302 for over a week. I know for a fact that it's being viewed, but nothing is showing up. I'm part of a contest that determines the winners based on their view counts so I'm relying on this to have a chance to win. Is there even anyone working on this problem. My account name is atomikmoogle. With all due respect get off your asses and fix the damn problem.

The view count on videos should match up with the Insight Data. Therein lies the problem. Why do you produce the Insight Data, yet leave the view counts frozen. It doesn't make sense. In my opinion YouTube is trying to police something that is impossible to regulate, while penalizing users for something beyond our control.

My account is too small to even suspect spam to be the issue on my part or a third party. Most of my video views are produced the old fashion way. The majority of views I get are via Related Videos or YouTube Search. It's very disheartening to work hard to find an audience only to have your counts distorted. I'm not anywhere near going viral, but to me any video I have that reaches the 500 mark is a great success to me considering my resources. It's very strange that the comments before mine state that their videos freeze at around the 300 mark. That's consistent with my problem. The two videos that I've noticed recently are stuck on 303 and 388.

I've posted an alert to this problem visible to everyone that visits my page. The more people that know about it, may encourage you guys to move on it.

This update is stupid and not to mention it's completely impossible to judge what views are from who. You never know because what is some assh*le just decides to spam one of your videos with views over and over so that it does this and freezes? Then what? You video doesn't get any views because some a*s. This update smells like the rear end of Donkey Kong, literally! We updated and uploaded a new version of one of our videos, and it's been stuck at 317 views for awhile now. Some of our friends recently viewed it, and it didn't go up any views at all, that was a day ago and it still has not added any new view counts yet, even though we got a new comment overnight (which makes it obvious there was atleast one more view). So apparently YouTube had frozen our video, yet we were not getting views from third-parties, we just happened to have good tags for the search engines.
Again, there is no way to tell where and who each one view is coming from. Have you ever watched a video more than once on one account just because you liked it? Do it now, and the video in question is frozen at that amount of views.
    Fix this problem!

i posted an iPhone vid yesterday as probably one of the very first after the presentation apple did. my views got frozen too, and i don't know why or what i have done wrong. i suspect they might be afraid that the apple sponsored vid's on there will have less views and therefore will be set back in ranking!? I just don't get it.

I still have a video stuck on 303 as I posted 3 weeks ago. Now one of my videos is stuck on 301. Again my Insight Data tells me that these vids are among my top 3, so there is no reason why they remain frozen. I wonder when YouTube will answer our calls to fix this problem. A March 14, 2009 notification is not good enough. Can we please get some kind of update. Perhaps one that shows us what our bogus, inflated, videos counts are.

This explanation is a hundred percent crap! You tube is just trying to manipulate "Who" gets the most views so they can sell that to their advertisers or people willing to pay tor kiss your-tube-butt for the "most viewed list". What a bunch of lies. Either their system works or it DONT. Dont lie to thinking adults because we want to trust you. You are manipulating the view count because it doesn't jive with the numbers the people who PAID you to be in the "Top" I know this to be true, because I have been watching a video for weeks and when it first went up it had 300plus views and then the next day it stopped counting and never EVER re-set. It is the most popular video and You---You tube stopped it! How much do you want for natural popularity google/you-tube? We know what you are up to. Answer

The Google so-called "Help" forums about this matter have many more complaints than this blog. All posts are about the same thing: frozen viewcounts, and like me, have had video counts arrested for months or in my case two videos' counts frozen for over four weeks, for no apparent reason.
This is patently unfair, and I believe there is a hidden reason behind it. My two frozen videos have been linked on Facebook, MySpace and have been "Twittered", and embedded on a site, yet they obstinately remain at 303 & 306 views and have done since August 27th.
If YouTube wish to continue claiming that it is the World's Number one video-sharing site, it had better fix this problem, stop the victimisation of some users, and have a place where contact with the site operators is easily available, otherwise it will see an exodus to other up and coming sites who are eager to replace it.

Youtube do you think the people who are uploading videos are stupid i thing that it is well out of order that youtube are freezing the view count to arround 300 hits this is blatent match fixing and some one sould take youtube to court over this issue by trying to stop the competion who arent buying into there ad sence partner ship programe. if youtube is trying to pass this view count freezing as a way of stopping spammers i say epic fail we all have to log in under a unique identy so why cant the view count reflect one view by one person regardless of how many times they watch it, im sure youtube has many back chat anwsers to wriggle out of why they are doing this but i think it really SUCKS shame on you youtube your turning into a school bully who exstort dinner money out of the poor kids

I am not spamming, but the video went viral on my network and now I'm penalized? Please, let me know if there is any action I can take to assure that I am not spamming & do need a job! My account is journeyinthenow and my email is marie@mariejourney.com ~ Many thanks!!!
