I am a little confused. If I were to propose a channel for my local church in the non-profit programme, I would be in breach of the guidelines. We comply with all the requirements except that religious matters are barred.
Strangely, you cannot force people to believe in God, any more than you can force people to tell you a truth by torture. However you should be able to read, hear and see what one person accepts as the truth so that you can 1: put up a counter-argument and 2: understand why they believe what they do. A denial of that right raises the concern as to what the denier is afraid of being aired.
I'm all for preaching happiness, and giving out advice, but basing it round religion is, in my opinion, ridiculous.
To the real world, the Pope is just another man - why should he have his YouTube channel promoted on the front page?
Their refusal to openly allow comments and ratings display their understanding that the internet does not want religion. Why has this been broadcast by YouTube?
There are plenty of YouTubers who speak on world issues, and I fail to see why the illogical world of religion is getting such a bigger stage.
If the biggies of other religions made YouTube channels, would they also be put on the front page?
You can probably tell from the tone of my comment that I disagree with your decision... But hey, it's not like I'm the Pope or anything.
I thought YouTube was about giving a voice to the common man?
On a side note, I sorted that last comment out into paragraphs, but they haven't shown up. Perhaps YouTube should concentrate on making our comments easier on the eye than promoting religion :P Have a nice day ;)
ah yes, let's have a channel for an organisation that perpetuates suffering by denying people contraception leading to millions of unwanted pregnancies, street children who are then murdered and of course HIV and AIDS. not to mention homophobic rantings, sex discrimination and misogynistic ways. Yeah, great idea.
