If you want the UK YouTube community to head for their webcams en masse, an earthquake is clearly the way to go. Tuesday night’s quake (5.2 on the Richter Scale and triggered deep below Market Rasen, the home of Lincolnshire horse-racing) encouraged a large number of you to upload, ranging from the sublime -- in the form of this charmingly overexcited reportage from Katers17:
To the ridiculous, in this case supplied by first-time film-maker Moribundian:
Even experienced YouTubers like Paperlilies seem to have been thrown for a loop:
As devoted trackers of YouTube activity, watching these videos was absorbing. Since the inception of the YouTube UK homepage, it’s fair to say that no one event has triggered such a wave of vlogging, and to see so many people simultaneously sharing their thoughts and experiences through this service was impressive.
It may be that because just one unfortunate soul was injured that people felt they could broadcast their takes on an event that we can expect to wait 30 years to experience again, but either way we at YouTube UK can’t wait to see what the Next Big Vlogging Event will be.
